Erwlon is a touring caravan and camping park that welcomes visitors of all abilities.We are open all year and while booking is recommended it is not normally essential except over bank holiday weekends.
Erwlon is located half a mile east of Llandovery off the A40. The caravan site is well signposted with tourist signs from the A40 approximately 600 metres from the site entrance and again immediately opposite the junction off the main road. The turning off the A40 takes you onto an unclassified road for about 50 metres and the entrance to the park's reception yard is wide and level. The reception yard is over 20m x 10m and there is plenty of space to park up prior to entry into the park. The reception yard and the path to the reception is level and with a tarmac finish. The reception is accessed from a timber decked area reached by a short ramp with railing on one side. The reception entrance is 0.XXm wide
The reception is located in a dedicated conservatory office about 20 metres from the reception yard. The reception includes seating and a two level reception desk. It is not always staffed but pressing a "silent" bell push will summon assistance within a few minutes. The reception also includes a display of tourist information, maps and a public telephone . There is a further information notice board at the central amenity block. Although the site owners and seasonal wardens are in residence on the park , main reception hours are roughly 9:00 am to 10:00 pm. Should you need assistance if reception is not open and you cannot find the owners, the notice board has details of doctors, hospitals, vets and other services.
The nearest shops are in Llandovery and a supermarket is approximately 300m from the park and accessible by a well light public footpath along the A40.
All the roads and paths around the park at Erwlon are made from tarmac or compacted and well maintained hardcore. We take patrons' safety seriously and have a 10 mph speed limit in operation around the park. There are three speed ramps along the access road that runs past the children's play area and each ramp is marked with parallel yellow lines sprayed directly onto the tarmac. All pitches are directly accessible off a road.
The campsite has low level lighting, it is level or gently sloping and access to pitches is easy and there is plenty of space between them. Vehicles can be parked adjacent to the pitch and some of the pitches can support two vehicles. The hard standing pitches are large, with space for a caravan and awning and vehicles. The surface is compacted hardcore. Every hard standing has its own water and grey waste point an electric hook up point is situated close by and shared between 2 or 3 pitches. Picnic tables with built in benches are distributed across the park and they can be moved to individual pitches for the convenience of clients.
There is one centrally heated amenity block located in the middle of the site with a parking area in front and to the side. There is a gradual access ramp on to a decked area leading to the main entrance and each of the unisex family rooms(5). In an addition the access area can be reached by a series of steps at each end. The ramp and steps have a hand rail on one side.
Each family room has a wc, washbasin, shower, hair and hand dryer. The rooms are approximately 2.5m by 2.5m and include a segregated changing area with a built in bench. One of the family rooms has an outward opening door and is fully equipped for independent disabled use with low level mirrors, dryers etc and rails and shower seat as specified by the "Doc M" building regulations. A further family room is equipped with a "fold down" baby changing platform.
The ladies area has three showers and seven toilets, seven hand basins (two in lockable privacy cubicles), two hair dryers and two hand dryers. The showers are gently sloping and enclosed in large lockable cubicles with a segregated built in drying area. Each wash basin has a mirror and a light.
The men's area has identical layout and facilities except that three of the toilets are replaced by a trough urinal.
The lighting throughout the block is regulated by a series of proximity sensors but the mirror lights can be over ridden manually.
The laundry and dish washing room is centrally located between the ladies' and men's facilities. There are three dedicated dish washing sinks with dish racks and draining boards. There is a single dedicated clothes washing sink, a top loading commercial coin operated washing machine and a front loading commercial coin operated tumble dryer. The laundry also has an iron and ironing board and a fridge freezer. There is a fixed wall mounted bench seat.
The chemical disposal point, is located in a dedicated room on the side of the amenity block and accessed at ground level. The disposal point is built into the floor and the surrounding tiled area all flows into the discharge point, it is not necessary therefore to lift your container to empty it! There is a tap and hose for washing containers and the flush for the unit is regulated by a wall mounted handle. A small hand wash basin with hot and cold water is mounted on the wall to the side of the discharge point. Car parking is available immediately outside the disposal point room. There is a purpose built "drive over" motor caravan service area with grey and black waste discharge points and a water tap for hose connection. The floor finish in this area is concrete and gently sloping to the discharge points.
Pitches close to the amenity block may be reserved for clients with restricted mobility or generally requiring easy and close access to the facilities.
There are 5 communal water points distributed across the park and each is mounted on a decorative wall feature at about waist height with grills for water drainage. The electric hook-up points are all clearly marked and adjacent to the relevant pitches. Dogs are welcome at Erwlon and we have a fenced off area on the site where you can let them off the lead. There is plenty of walking off directly from the site, much available on our farm roads and tracks. We can exchange and sell Calor gas cylinders and we can loan patrons a simple trolley to transport cylinders to and from their pitch.
There is bus service from the nearby supermarket and most buses will drop off at the site entrance. The rail mainline (Heart of Wales) station in Llandovery is about one mile from the park.Telephone numbers for local taxi firms are available and displayed on the notice board and at the reception. Mobile telephone reception at Erwlon is good. Direct terrestrial television reception is poor but we provide a boosted supply which can be accessed by directing your aerial at the house and retuning your TV. Unrestricted satellite TV signal can be gained at each pitch.
The Rees family can all speak Welsh and along with the seasonal site wardens will be pleased to assist you so that you gain maximum enjoyment from your stay.
