The beautiful Cambrian Mountains is an area of Wales which stretches from Llandovery up towards Machynlleth, taking in the rural and remote central area of Wales. Surrounded by spectacular scenery this area of Wales may be lesser known than its surrounding National Park, however it is an area of Wales not to be missed. We are fortunate enough at Erwlon to be at the edge of the Cambrian Mountains and here's our top tips of places to visit and things to do in the area: 1. Llyn Brianne - The reservoir was constructed in the late 60's early 70's and since then has become a tourism spot to visit. Take a drive around the reservoir and stop off for a picnic. Or take a wonder to discover Twm Sion Cati's Cave at nearby Rhandirmwyn. 2. Head to the town of Llanwrtyd Wells - Famous for its quirky and alternative events, Llanwrtyd Wells is the home to Bog Snorkelling, Man Versus Horse race and the Real Ale Wobble to name a few. 3. Elan Valley - With 72 square miles to discover this area is great for walking, cycling, bird watching or just exploring. Elan Valley is a haven for wildlife, one of the most important sites in Wales and a great place to visit at any time of the year. 4. Take a Safari - Enjoy a guided tour in your own private vehicle with Cambrian Safari. Explore parts of the Cambrian Mountains and learn about the area and its history from your guide.
